Meccano Park Ward Sports Saloon

This CAD model is my Meccano version of a 1935 Park Ward Sports Saloon car.  I modeled it based on photographs and other information from the web.

In the early to mid-1900s, Park Ward was a British manufacturer of luxury car bodies. Their innovative use of all-steel construction met the high standards set by Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Park Ward designed the Sports Saloon specifically for Bentley’s 3-1/2 litre chassis. The interior featured leather upholstery, wool carpets, and a wood-veneered dashboard. Rolls-Royce eventually acquired both Park Ward and Bentley.

The model is designed to fit over the Meccano Motor Chassis as a removable assembly. An actual model would be about 27 inches (69 cm) long, or about 1/7th scale, although proportionately the model is about 20 percent wider than the actual car.

  • Total number of parts (body only):  1,690
  • Number of bolts, nuts, and washers:  1,200
  • Total cost of actual parts (approx. CAD):  $800
