Dust Collection Cart
This simple dust collection cart really helps to control woodworking dust in my basement. I bought a Dustopper dust separator to use with my Ridgid shop-vac. It works quite well and really helps to prevent the shop-vac filter from quickly plugging up with fine sawdust. But moving the two of them around together was awkward, especially when using them to vacuum the floor.
I built this simple cart from scrap 2 x 2-inch (nominal) lumber and some spare casters. I added some 1 x 4-inch (nominal) braces at the corners to prevent the frame from twisting. The shop-vac just sits on the frame, and the Dustopper and bucket are free to rotate with the hose and can be easily removed for emptying and cleaning. I built it on the fly so I don’t have a drawing or dimensions for it, but the design depends on the specific equipment used anyway.
